the students choose one language to study more in depth
in small group projects in class. Students who select
this class in 7th grade may not repeat it in
8th grade. They may move on to the full year
course of Spanish or French in 8th grade if
they meet the course pre-requisites of a solid B or
better in Language Arts and good study/work habits.

powered race car on graph paper, making a pattern,
cutting the block of wood, filing, sanding and painting
and then racing it. Problem solving is Bridge Building.
We make a model of a bridge out of bass wood sticks, and
then stress it to see how much weight it can take before
it breaks. Inventions explores how things are invented,
we make a prototype and demonstrate how it works.
Drama 7 is
an introduction to drama and requires no prior acting
experience. Students will have the opportunity to
experience acting, improvisation, drama games, scenery,
costuming, lighting, and more. The class will perform
one production each semester.* Because some of the
teachers for elective classes teach part-time, not all
semester classes are taught each period. Students who
select only semester classes must rank all of them so
that alternates can be used, if needed. We attempt to
schedule students with their first two choices, but it
is not always possible to provide students with all four
(1 – 4) "first choices" due to availability of the class
and when the student needs other classes.
All
7th grade students will
take PE/Life Skills/Health as one of their 3 electives.
Students who are recommended for
resource or reinforcement classes in math or reading
will be given 2 periods of electives rather than 3. We
will work with your child to determine which elective
will be replaced with the reinforcement class.
