This year-long course for sixth grade students encompasses science standards that continue to emphasize data analysis and experimentation. Methods are studied for testing the validity of predictions and conclusions. The concept of change is explored through the study of transformations of energy and matter. The standards also focus on the role of the sun’s energy in the Earth’s systems, on water in the environment, on air and atmosphere, and on basic chemistry concepts. Natural resource management, its relation to public policy, and cost/benefit tradeoffs in conservation policies are introduced as well as a more detailed understanding of the solar system and space exploration.
Important note: Most of the content covered in class and assigned work is posted on Googl Classroom. Each student must log on to their Google account and sign in to their Science Google Classroom page by using their username and password. Students log on to Google Classroom on a regular basis.
