Ms. Jennifer Herndon
I am excited to be starting the 4th Quarter with you! Our class may look a little different than what we are used to, but we will navigate our way through this change together. Here is some information you may find helpful.
When we have live instructional sessions or small group meetings, they will be through Google Meet and will happen on Fridays. Your time slot is dependent upon your class period for me:
Fridays 1:00-1:25 Biology Honors 1st and 4th periods
Fridays 1:30-1:55 Genetics 2nd period
Fridays 2:00-2:25 Biology Honors 5th and 7th periods
It is going to be very important that you check your PCPS GMail account and our Google Classroom at least twice a day as these will be the primary ways that I will communicate with you during the 4th quarter. I will also be available through REMIND should you need to send me a quick text.
If you are not sure how to join or use Google Classroom or just need a quick refresher, please take a moment to watch this short video. How to Sign-in to Google Classroom and Access Materials
Google Classroom Class Codes:

I will have office hours all quarter where I will be available to help you or answer any questions you may have. During office hours, expect a timely response to any email you send me as well as the potential to Google Meet with me if necessary.
Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have questions!
Overall I know that our science class is different than what we are used to, but treat this quarter as an opportunity to grow and learn through new online platforms and discover science in an interactive yet virtual way.
Welcome Honors Biology/Anatomy/Genetics students!
What a fantastic year we have in store for us!
Although a recent transplant from Colorado, I am quite familiar with Poquoson High School. Born and raised in Newport News, I have always admired the community of Poquoson, including its wonderful support of education. PHS is truly a family, and I know that this year we will embrace all that it has to offer together.
As a native Virginian, I attended the University of Mary Washington where I majored in Biology. Soon after graduation I married my best friend, an Air Force Academy graduate, and we embarked on a life in the military. I received my teaching certification after studying education at San Jose State University. I've taught in Texas, Utah, and most recently, in Colorado.
I am excited to start my fifth year here at PHS! I can't wait to get to know each and every one of you, and look forward to a fun, interactive, and inspiring school year!
Philosophy: It is my job as an educator to furnish opportunities for all children to aspire to new heights as students of science.
