• Rhetoric

This course is designed to introduce you to the use of argument and rhetoric in various forms, including media. Over the course of the year, we will examine numerous non-fiction writings, analyzing them for the use and effectiveness of persuasive strategies. You will also build on your writing skills through synthesis and rhetorical analysis. Some of this will be done through Project Based Learning, allowing you an opportunity to truly take ownership of your learning and work on projects that interest and have real-world implications for you. My goal for you for the year is that you will gain the skills necessary to pass the AP Language and Literature exam with a qualifying 4 or 5, as well as developing further proficiency in 21st century skills, or the 5 Cs (creative thinking, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, citizenship).
