  • COURSE DESCRIPTION:

    • Students gain an understanding of the importance of marketing in today's society. They develop skills related to interpersonal communication, self-presentation, economics, marketing, sales, employability, career discovery, and ethical decision-making. This course reinforces mathematics, science, English, and history/social science Standards of Learning (SOLs). Computer/technology applications and DECA activities support this course. DECA, the co-curricular student organization, offers opportunities in leadership, community, and competitive events.
    • Lessons throughout the course will complement the essential project design elements of Project Based Learning. Our course will encourage the developmental growth of our students following the 5C Skills: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Citizenship.
    • Student participation in DECA is strongly encouraged. DECA is a Student Association for Marketing Students therefore all marketing students are highly recommended to be active members and participate in all activities and fundraisers throughout the year. Students can elect to participate in DECA for extra credit for their nine weeks grade.
