• Welcome Back!

I am excited to be starting the 4th Quarter with you! Our class may look a little different than what we are used to, but we will navigate our way through this change together. Here is some information you may find helpful.

When we have live instructional sessions or small group meetings, they will be at the following times:

    English 9, Pd. 3: 2:00-2:30

    English 9, Pd. 5: 2:30-3:00

    English 9, Pd. 6: 3:00-3:30

It is going to be very important that you check your PCPS gmail account and our Google Classroom at least once a day as these will be the primary ways that I will communicate with you during the 4th quarter.

If you are not sure how to join or use Google Classroom or just need a quick refresher, please take a moment to watch this short video. How to Sign-in to Google Classroom and Access Materials

I will have office hours all quarter where I will be available to help you or answer any questions you may have.

My office hours will be daily from 10:00-11:00 AM

Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have questions!

    Assignments for April 15-17:

The plan for this week is as follows:

    โœ…Read the weekly agenda and watch the video attached below (Task 00)(๐ธ๐‘ ๐‘ก.
โœ…Create a "Virtual Re-Introduction Collage" (Task 01) to help you touch base and connect with your classmates for our task on Friday. This collage is due by

โœ…Watch the video on EdPuzzle on Ethos, Pathos, and Logos (Task 01). Be sure to take notes. You will be allowed to use these notes on future quizzes/tests/check-ins. I won't check these until after ๐…๐ซ๐ข๐๐š๐ฒ @ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ:๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ— ๐๐Œ, but I would recommend not putting this off until the last minute.
๐Ÿ†˜ If you have any problems accessing this video due to bandwidth, email me at Mary.Prince@Poquoson.org and I can send you an alternate assignment for credit.

โœ… Look over and sign off on our class virtual norms (Task 02). These will be our expectations for online learning in this class. This assignment will be due on ๐…
โœ… Comment on two of your classmates collages on Padlet (Task 03). Make sure your responses comply with our virtual norms. This assignment will be due on ๐…
โœ… Take our exit survey (Task 04) to let me know how you're feeling about virtual learning and to see what you've learned and what you're confused about. There will be questions about ethos, pathos, and logos on your survey, but This is simply a way for me to make sure you're learning and help you if you are confused. This assignment will be due on ๐…
    โœ… Turn in the checked off agenda (Task 00) attached (๐ธ๐‘ ๐‘ก.

    Welcome to English Nine!

This class is designed to facilitate mastery of English language and literature and to help you become a better reader, writer, speaker, thinker, and leader. Along the way, we’ll enjoy compelling modern works of nonfiction and classics from literature, including Sandra Cisneros’ House on Mango Street, tales from Greek Mythology, short stories, and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet

Classroom instruction will be built around a variety of concept-based units, designed to develop students' 5 C’s of an ideal graduate: critical thinking, creativity, citizenship, collaboration, and communication. Over the course of the year, we will have a variety of traditional and project-based units where students will work with teams to set norms, create products, delve deeper into the meaning of literary texts, and make connections between content and their lives.

Students should check Google Classroom for the latest information about upcoming assignments and/or tests. Our classroom code is c4o2qmx. If you are a parent in need of parental access, please let me know.
