Superintendent Search

  • Our Superintendent Profile Survey is now open!

Poquoson City Public Schools is committed to partnering with you to provide all our students with the best possible education. To do that effectively, we need your input on our search for our next superintendent. That’s why we’re asking parents, staff, and students in grades 6-12 to take our Superintendent Profile Survey.

The survey asks for feedback on what qualities you value in a leader. It also asks about your opinions about vision and goals, management, instructional leadership, communication skills, and stakeholder engagement. Please take the survey and share your thoughts with us.

Independent research and communications firm K12 Insight will administer the survey and compile the results, ensuring the confidentiality of participants. To learn more about the survey, please contact Lenna Reimers at 868-3054.

PCPS Announcements

  • Dr. Jennifer Parish, Superintendent, Annouces Retirement

Poquoson City Schools Superintendent Jennifer Parish will retire at the end of the current school year and will then become Executive Director of the Downtown Hampton Child Development Center.

“I have served as superintendent of Poquoson City Public Schools for almost 12 years and have had a wonderful experience,” Dr. Parish said. “I have enjoyed working with an incredible group of people who always do their best for our students and our community, and the decision to retire was made with mixed emotions.

“PCPS is a very special place and I have been honored to be part of this extraordinary community,” she said.

With this move, Dr. Parish will continue to support children through her work but now as a leader for a non-profit organization. “Quality early childhood education is vitally important and helps ensure that young children come to kindergarten prepared for school and positioned for success throughout their school years. I am excited to focus my work in this area,” Dr. Parish said.

In addition, Dr. Parish will continue to teach classes at the College of William & Mary and work closely with future and current educational leaders. Dr. Parish is also looking forward to spending more time with her family.

Shortly, the School Board will begin the search for a new superintendent with the goal of filling the position prior to Dr. Parish’s departure. “Everyone should be assured that I will work toward a smooth leadership transition, and I will continue to do my very best work for PCPS until the day I retire,” Dr. Parish said.
