Health & Physical Education Class

Welcome back! I’m so excited to begin the 2019-2020 school year!!

In Physical Education class we will be participating in various sports including, but not limited to, football, basketball, volleyball, hockey, softball, soccer, etc. We’ll also dive right into cooperative learning activities, as well as our “Backyard Recreational Games” unit. Physical fitness will be stressed throughout the year by participating in the “Bull Fitness Challenge” and the FITNESSGRAM physical fitness assessments.

In Health Education, students will be involved in learning about their overall health (physical, mental/emotional, and social), the dangers of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and the various body systems. At the end of the year, students will also participate in Family Life Education, a unit which will cover important issues facing modern teens and provide reinforcement to enable students to make good life affirming decisions.

Why Did I Become a Health & Physical Education Teacher?

Playing sports my whole life allowed me to see the importance of physical activity and exercise in our daily lives. Being physically active allows use to be more successful as opposed to living a sedentary lifestyle. It helps us be better students, full of energy, motivated, better teammates, etc. My goal is to teach all of my students the importance of creating healthy habits now when it comes to physical activity and nutrition so that they can live a long and healthy life and understand out to take care of their body as they age.
