Mr. Zachary Baker

Welcome to Middle School Health & Physical Education!

Throughout the 2018-2019 school year we will be engaging in numerous fun and exciting physical activities that will allow you to learn, practice, and enjoy living a healthy and physically active lifestyle.

The Health and Physical Education program at the middle school is geared to the development of the student in three capacities: mental, social, physical.  Students are provided instruction in fitness activities, sport skills such as softball, football, volleyball, basketball, and soccer, and they learn to participate in cooperative games.  In addition, students participate in the FitnessGram emphasizes the overall health and wellness of the student, rather than the physical prowess of a student.

In addition to health skills and strategies to improve or maintain personal and family health, the health curriculum includes Family Life Education and Too Good for Drugs curriculum. Both units cover important issues facing modern teens and provide reinforcement to enable students to make good life affirming decisions.  Additionally, students will complete a Digital Citizenship Module to ensure online safety (8th grade only)

Why Did I Become a Healthy & Physical Education Teacher?

I've always enjoyed school, especially physical education class, as I was an athlete growing up and loved to play any and all sports. I learned so much about life through sports and enjoyed the experiences that sports allowed me to have, good and bad. I wanted to teach children how being physically active can lead to having a positive outlook at life, learn how to take care of themselves, and motivate themselves and others when working together as a team/group.
