I am excited to be starting the 4th Quarter with you! Our class may look a little different than what we are used to, but we will navigate our way through this change together. Here is some information you may find helpful.
When we have live instructional sessions or small group meetings they will be on Fridays from 1:00PM to 2:30PM.
It is going to be very important that you check your PCPS GMail account and our Google Classroom at least once a day as these will be the primary ways that I will communicate with you during the 4th quarter.
Posted on Google Classroom or under "Resources" on my webpage, you will find the following important documents to guide you through Q4:
Q4 Instructions: Unit plans, assignment due dates and quiz/test deadlines and procedures are explained.
Lesson Plans for Unit #9, Unit #10 and Unit #11: Lesson plans for the current unit will be posted and provide a detailed listing of daily lessons, instructional video links, assignments, due dates and instructions on accessing and taking quizzes and tests on-line. This will serve as your guide through each unit.
Unit #9, Unit #10 and Unit #11 Packets: The current Unit packet will be posted and contains all notes and worksheets to accompany the Unit plan. NOTE: If you get your packets from my webpage, be sure to get the ones labeled Spring 2020.
If you are not sure how to join or use Google Classroom or need a quick refresher, please take a moment to watch this short video. How to Sign-In to Google Classroom and Access Materials Please refer to your school gmail account to find your "invite."

Welcome to Chemistry, the "Central Science." Chemistry is the study of matter and how it interacts, combines and changes...kind of like magic. Chemistry is a challenging course for many students but with the proper amount of effort and a little perseverance, you will find it to be manageable and even interesting!
This is my 17th year of teaching and my 4th year at Poquoson High School. I taught Biology for 3 years, followed by Chemistry for the past 13 years. Prior to that, I worked for 16 years in the food industry as both a Quality Assurance Manager and Director of Technical Services. My responsibilities included overseeing USDA certified labs in Chemistry and Microbiology, so I try to share with my students how the concepts they are learning are practically applied in the real world. Believe it or not, you may use this information later in life and depending on what field you choose after high school, this could be the first of several Chemistry related courses you will take.
Finally, I have been married for 35 years and I have 3 grown children, 2 dogs and 2 cats. I am a VA Tech graduate, as is my husband and my oldest son. I also have another son who currently attends VA Tech...so GO HOKIES!
I look forward to working with you this year!
