Dear Fourth Grade Families,
Welcome back! I am so excited to start the fourth quarter with you! I have missed all of my students and connecting with families. I hope everyone has been healthy and safe at home. I can’t wait to get back to work and finish-out the year ☺
As we start the 4th Quarter, I will be posting all of our 4th Quarter lessons, presentations, notes, and assignments on my Google Classroom. When we have live instructional sessions or small group meetings, they will be between 10:30-11:30AM depending on what colored group I have placed your child in. Our official schedule is posted below. Additionally, you will receive a follow up email from me indicating what group your child will participate in each week.
Our first meeting will be on Wednesday, April 15th at 10:30am. If students are unable to join the 10:30 meeting, I will host a second, identical meeting at 11:00 am. Students will get an invitation to the Google Meet through their PCPS GMail account. We will use our meeting time to discuss our distance learning expectations, new procedures for accessing lessons and turning in work, and do some basic troubleshooting. Our regular scheduled group times listed in the schedule below will begin next week.
It is going to be very important that you check your PCPS GMail account and our Google Classroom at least once a day as these will be the primary ways that I will communicate with you during the 4th quarter.
If you are not sure how to join or use Google Classroom or just need a quick refresher, please take a moment to watch this short video: How to Sign-in to Google Classroom and Access Materials
I will have office hours all quarter where I will be available to help you or answer any questions you may have. You may reach me via email between 9:30-10:30 am daily, however I tend to respond as quickly as possible whenever you reach out.
Please don’t hesitate to email me if you have questions or are not sure what to do.

Hello! My name is Mrs. DuBose and I am so excited to start this school year!
I have been teaching for 11 years. Ten of them were spent in Newport News Public Schools and one year in Poquoson.
I majored in Elementary Education K-6 at Old Dominion University and then earned my Master's degree in Gifted Education from William and Mary. My favorite subject is social studies, especially Virginia Studies since I have spent my entire life here!
I have two children, Caleb and Madelyn, and my husband, Mike. As a family, our favorite activity is visiting Disney World as often as possible! We are definitely a Disney family! We also have a furry family member, Lady, a Golden Retriever (my favorite dog breed).
I love reading, going to Lake Gaston, Disney World, the colors pink and green, creating crafts with my cricut machine, sewing, and spending time with my family. My favorite foods are nachos, Reese cups, Diet Dr. Pepper, Taco Bell, and Starbucks coffee. You can always see me with my coffee in the mornings, ready to teach!
I cannot wait to meet my students for this year and thanks for giving me the chance to teach your wonderful children!
