On November 11th, Poquoson Elementary students and staff celebrated Veteran’s Day with a breakfast. Over 200 individuals attended the breakfast of pastries and fruit. A program of music and inspirational selections was presented to include the Star Spangled Banner by the Poquoson High School Brass Ensemble and a choral selection from the 5th grade Chorus, under the direction of music teacher, Madeline Brook. Two students read inspirational pieces, a poem read by Ayla Weidemann and an original selection written and read by Avery Duncan. Third grade students made homemade cards to celebrate our hometown heroes. Throughout the breakfast and the rest of the school week, staff members who have veteran family members were highlighted on the school interactive billboard.
