Network Sorting in Third Grade

Unplugged Coding and Sorting

Mrs. Taylor's third grade class at Poquoson Elementary School participated in an unplugged computer science activity, called a Network Sort, which directly tied to the math SOLs they are currently focusing on in the classroom. By walking along the path, students compared numbers using an algorithm which ordered numbers from least to greatest (up to 9999). The students worked collaboratively, helping one another debug/fix any mistakes to ensure they got the correct order at the end.
