Kindergarten Celebrates COW (Concept of Word) with Nursery Rhyme Day

Along Came a Spider

All year long Poquoson Primary students have been working with nursery rhymes to develop a strong COW or Concept of Word.  According to the University of Virginia, Concept of Word is the accurate and consistent speech-to-print match when finger-point reading a memorized text AND the ability to remember words previously seen in context.  On Friday, May 31st, students celebrated their journey of nursery rhymes by dressing up as their favorite rhyme, completing nursery rhyme STEM challenges like putting Humpty Dumpty back together again, and sharing their costumes with others.
